Leeds United- “The goal for this season is automatic”, MD makes a statement of intent.

Leeds United are known for their seemingly undeniable play-off hoodoo, with their recent history only strengthening the myth further. They have been in multiple play-off situations since their relegation from the Premier League in 2004… and failed on every occasion.

Last season saw the club come close to avoiding the drama of the play-off lottery situation, as they led a Championship league table for most of the campaign, only to fall by the wayside at the last minute, again doomed to play-off failure.

The major catalyst for Leeds United’s upturn in form from previous years was the appointment of 63-year-old Argentine manager Marcelo Bielsa, who transformed a set of players who finished thirteenth in their previous Championship campaign into an outfit capable of playing breathtaking football and a high intensity approach which almost took the club to the Premier League.

Leeds recently released their fly-on-the-wall documentary “Take Us Home”- Leeds United, available on Amazon Prime Video, where the story of the incredible season was depicted, with excellent insight into the inner workings of the club during a campaign which had many twists and turns, but it is the closing moments of the documentary that Managing Directer, Angus Kinnear, says something that will have the Leeds fans purring at the clubs stance for the coming season.

Following the clubs successful re-appointment of Bielsa and a better understanding of FFPP, Leeds Uniteds MD makes the following statement…

“The goal for next year is automatic promotion, we’re not dicking around with play-offs anymore”

This will  mirror the thoughts and hopes of every single Leeds United fan this season, with hearts still sore from a campaign that promised much, but delivered little.
