That fee now appears to be an absolute bargain for the Eagles, with Wharton starting 13 of his 14 Premier League appearances.

The midfielder has also provided two assists in that time, helping Palace swerve well away from relegation under new manager Oliver Glasner.

A number of fans have been left impressed by him - and the bookies' odds of him getting into the England squad for Euro 2024, which starts in just over a month, reflect that.

talkSPORT BET's odds for the youngster to go to Germany with the Three Lions have been slashed from 50/1 on the April 15 to 10/1 at the time of writing.

talkSPORT's Adrian Durham was full of praise for the youngster after watching him in action in Palace's 4-0 demolition of Manchester United on Monday, too.

Writing on X after the game, he said: "Could go through the whole Palace team last night and give them high marks out of 10.

"But Adam Wharton was absolutely superb in centre mid. Worked hard, quality on the ball, good football intelligence. Only 20, he's made the step up from Championship mid season look easy. 10/10."

The stats demonstrate just how talented he is, too.
